Heel spur – When pain slows down your performance

A sharp pain with the first step in the morning, almost like stepping on a nail.

The foot feels somehow stuck and restricted. For many athletes and high performers, a heel spur is not just a physical obstacle, but a massive blow to their enjoyment of life and dynamism.

(For me, it certainly was, and it took me a long time to gather the most effective and useful methods that helped me cure my heel spur or plantar fasciitis).

It's easier without heel spur

As a specialist in holistic bodywork, I know that pain is a signal from your system demanding attention. Those who are used to driving at full speed, navigating life in third or fourth gear, often ignore these signs for too long. Or they suppress them with medication or other means. But a heel spur doesn't develop by chance. It's the result of tension and poor posture that permeate your entire body.

The origin: More than just inflammation of the foot

A heel spur is a small bony growth on the heel bone, often accompanied by inflammation of the plantar fascia. In my work, however, I always consider the body holistically. The cause is rarely solely in the foot. Often, it's shortened calf muscles, improperly weighted feet, a poorly connected core (which, incidentally, lies lower than many assume), ingrained movement patterns, or a lack of flexibility in the muscle chains that make the strain on the heel unbearable. In almost all the cases I've treated to date, one misalignment leads to another, thus throwing the entire bodily system out of balance.

To break this vicious cycle, in collaboration with me as co-pilot, we use methods from proven body therapies that target precisely where the tension arises and areas are out of balance.

My approach: Creating space within the system

Instead of just treating the symptoms, we work together to resolve the complex imbalances and deep-seated tensions. Through the interplay of manual techniques and targeted movement, we bring your body back into balance. The goal is clear: less strain and pain, more ease with every step.

Your everyday tool: The Human Garage tackling exercise

To accelerate your recovery, I recommend a highly effective exercise that I have used with my clients and on myself and greatly appreciate: the ankle twist . This exercise helps to release energetic and physical tension in the ankle joint, all the way down to the foot, and to realign the fascia.

I've found it very effective to do this exercise three to five times a day, either standing or sitting. Even during my city trip to Amsterdam, I was able to explore the city for half a day without taking pain medication.

I would also be happy to receive your feedback on what the exercise brings you.

Here's how the exercise works:

  • Pressure relief: It takes the strain off the plantar fascia.

  • Mobility: The ankle joint gains in range of motion.

  • Responsiveness: Your foot learns to act stably and painlessly again.

From pain to sustainable, anatomically correct movement

A heel spur doesn't have to be a permanent condition. By understanding how your body functions and providing the right stimuli, mobility and strength will return. My exclusive 360° support combines in-depth and proven bodywork, targeted training impulses , and precise stress management, so you can regain your peak performance in all areas of your life.
